Dr. Margarita Hernandez is a native of Puerto Rico and enjoys residing in South Florida.  She is currently Board Certified in Pediatrics and has just completed her fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal medicine at the University of South Florida in Tampa.  

Dr. Hernandez is a member of many Professional Associations.  She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, American Thoracic Society, Florida Medical Association and the National Hispanic Medical Association just to name a few.  Her research experience includes the 'Genetic Susceptibility for H Pylori Infection and  the collaborative the study of the 'Genetics of Asthma (CSGA).  During her fellowship she participated in many presentations specific to 'Necrotizing Enterocolitis Perinatal Neonatal Management and Frontal Dysplasia Case.   

Dr. Hernandez has just recently moved to the East Coast of South Florida to be closer to her family because she considers Miami her home.  When she is not practicing medicine with South Dade Neonatology, Dr. Hernandez finds her most important role to be that of "Mom."  She is married to her husband who is also a physician and they currently have two children.  Fluent in both English and Spanish Dr. Hernandez enjoys having the opportunity to practice in a community that focuses on cultural diversity.  She has served as a Girl Scout Volunteer and enjoys spending all of her free time with her family.  Dr. Hernandez enjoys caring for the neonatal population because she is able to have the opportunity to transform a patients life and truly make a difference in modern day medicine.
